Twilight is a fun, casual neighborhood event that is held to kick off the Home Tour weekend. Attendees have the opportunity to tour several homes, followed by dinner, dancing and a silent auction.
It might be described as a giant, neighborhood block party. If you’ve never been before, we’d love to see you there!
What does my Twilight Party ticket get me?
You will be treated to a catered buffet dinner, live music and a silent auction, all under a beautiful white tent. And, of course, there is an opportunity to tour beautiful Twilight homes that are located within walking distance.
The Twilight Committee works hard to keep the ticket price as low as possible. We want to encourage as many people to join us as possible! All ticket proceeds go to the cost of hosting the event.
What is the schedule for the evening?
6:00 pm — The party begins! Twilight homes and party tent are officially open
7:30-9:30 pm –Dinner is served, buffet-style
8:00 pm — Twilight homes close
9:45pm — Silent Auction begins to shut down*
11:00 pm — Party’s Over!
*Please plan to pick up your Silent Auction items this evening so we don’t have to track you down over the weekend! Thank you!
What if I’m thirsty?
Beverages are not included in your ticket price so be sure to bring some cash if you think you might be thirsty! Upland Brewery has been a sponsor for several years and will serve their micro-brews. There will also be full bars for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note: This is NOT a BYOB event. We cannot allow beverages to be brought into the event.
What sort of food is served?
Dinner is served buffet style. The 2014 menu includes a salad of spinach, romaine and radicchio with chopped eggs, Craisins, sunflower seeds, parmesan and red wine vinaigrette; sautéed chicken breast with lemon juice, garlic and fresh rosemary; pan-seared ginger-honey pork loin; roasted red potatoes with sea salt and rosemary; fresh vegetable sauté; rolls; and pound cake topped with fruit compote and cinnamon whipped cream. Coffee (decaf and regular) will also be served.
How does seating work?
The event is very casual, so just fill your plate and grab a chair. If you would prefer to have a reserved table, you can reserve a table for 8 and when you arrive, you’ll find your name on a table, just for you and your favorite neighbors. Some folks plan to come with a big group and end up reserving 3-4 tables!
What should I wear?
Think cool and comfortable. It’s fun to dress up, but keep in mind that it’s usually quite warm, and it’s an outdoor event. Women generally wear a sundress and sandals. Men – khakis or shorts and a golf shirt. You’ll likely do a lot of standing (and dancing) so keep that in mind.
Can I buy my ticket at the event?
We recommend buying your tickets early, as the event often sells out. Last year, we had to turn people away, which was no fun! If we know you’re coming ahead of time, we can make sure we have a large enough tent and plenty of food.
How do you decide where to hold Twilight?
In general, we determine the Twilight tour homes first, which allows us to narrow down the location.
In past years, we have erected the party tent right in a neighborhood street, which was a lot of fun! However, in recent years the City has been unwilling to provide us with a permit to close down streets due to safety concerns. This has limited our location options to neighborhood parking lots that allow for a tent.
What can I expect from the silent auction?
We thought you’d never ask. The Silent Auction is held in the center of the Twilight tent and is a substantial fundraiser for Meridian-Kessler. There is a huge array of things to bid on – from vacations and artwork to restaurant gift certificates and photography sessions. There is something for everyone.
And remember, all proceeds are granted out to neighborhood organizations that work to make Meridian-Kessler a better place to live, work and play. Bid often and generously!
